Dr. Amena Hasan

Dr. Hasan is an alumni of Oxford University, UK. She was awarded a full scholarship for the 2006 session for the Oxford University Business Economics Program (OUBEP). Dr. Hasan did M.Phil. degree in Microbiology from Quaid-e-Azam University, Pakistan (1996) and earned her degree as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Pakistan (1994).

Dr. Hasan has been working at management level on different assignments related to project/program designing, implementation and evaluation in different areas of Social Development and Corporate Social Responsibility for about fifteen years now. She has also managed Multi stakeholder partnerships involving Government, NGOs, Corporate sector and trade unions. Majority of her work experience is in China and Pakistan.

In China Dr. Hasan has worked with Institute of Agriculture Economics (Government), LEAD China, Beijing Television (Semi Government) and Trustee on Developing A+ Kids (private education company), Hebei University and Dalian Nationalities University. In Pakistan also Dr. Hasan has served various national and international organization including Agha Khan Rural Support Programme, Save The Children UK, Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy, Micronutrient Initiative, Focus Humanitarian Assistance, ESRA Plus (Education Development Center In.), LEAD Pakistan, Farm Forestry Support Project (Inter-cooperation), OMV Pvt. Ltd. (Oil and Gas company), Interloop Pvt. Ltd. (Textile industry) and PPEPCA (Pakistan Petroleum Exploration and Production Companies Association).

Dr. Hasan is the founder of a social enterprise Business for Social Progress (BSP). Currently Dr. Hasan is serving as the CEO of BSP where she has been involved in multiple constancy assignments and development and executing of BSP’s Social Investment Initiatives.

Dr. Hasan’s professional expertise include
Corporate Social Responsibility/Social Accountability: Design and conduct academic courses for university students; prepare Corporate Social Investment guidelines for corporate clients; research and provide analysis of globalization process and linkages to sustainable business development and CSR; Broker and develop NGO-corporate-state sector partnerships, liaise with diverse stakeholders; establish institutional linkages
Human Resource and Institutional Development (HID): Identify coaching needs, design and conduct trainings; develop HRD strategies and plans; conduct trainings on gender focused budgeting and planning; build capacity of community organizations, local NGOs and district government officials in leadership and project management skills and participatory Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation methodologies
Livelihoods and Enterprise Development: Prepare, supervise and evaluate multi-sector projects/programs for socioeconomic empowerment through creating alternative livelihood opportunities, capacity building and technical support for livestock and agriculture development, natural resource management, food safety and security, community forest management, community-based poverty alleviation, and micro-enterprise development
Research: Design and manage quantitative and qualitative researches for planning out-put driven programmes; Review, monitor, and evaluate ongoing projects to draw lessons learnt; Use participatory methodologies (SWOT analyses, FGD, PRA, RRA, Puppetry, and TFD-theatre for development) to improve the design and the impact of the programmes, and for future planning i.e. project identification/formulation
Advocacy:onduct consultations, awareness raising workshops and campaigns, produce reports and advocacy videos, public relations for (including appearances on) national and international media (experience with BBC-TV, FIFA-TV, Sky TV, Beijing TV, The Economist and Asian Woman Magazine)
